About Us

Who We Are

Australian Musicals Development Inc. (AMD) is a peak body for Australian musicals. Established in 2004, we encourage and support local musical theatre as an integral part of Australian cultural life.

We aim to:

  1. extend awareness and appreciation of Australian musicals both nationally and internationally through promotion, advocacy and education;
  2. foster the professional skills of creators and other practitioners of Australian musicals; and
  3. facilitate communication between practitioners of Australian musicals and between such practitioners and the broader arts community.

2008 Music Theatre AWGIE Award

The 41st Annual AWGIE Awards for writing for film, TV, theatre and radio were awarded on Friday 15 August at Melbourne's Plaza Ballroom. The Music Theatre AWGIE went to Sean Peter's musical Everything’s F***ed, performed last year as part of the Adelaide Festival Centre's inSPACE program.
